NASA a decis să prelungească misiunea a doi astronauţi pe Staţia Spaţială Internaţională de la 8 zile la 8 luni

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson has announced that the Boeing Starliner spacecraft will return to Earth without a crew on board. Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams were originally scheduled to spend only eight days on the International Space Station (ISS), but now it seems they will be spending eight months in space.

The two astronauts were supposed to travel to the ISS aboard the Starliner spacecraft, but NASA has deemed the capsule unsafe for the astronauts’ journey back to Earth, according to Rador.

In light of this decision, Wilmore and Williams will return home in February aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, which will be launched in September with two astronauts on board instead of four. This will allow the Dragon spacecraft to bring back Wilmore and Williams along with the other astronauts upon their return.

The unexpected extension of Wilmore and Williams’ stay in space highlights the challenges and uncertainties that can arise in space exploration. Despite meticulous planning and preparation, unforeseen circumstances can still impact missions and require quick thinking and adaptability from both astronauts and mission control.

The safety and well-being of astronauts are always top priorities for NASA, and decisions regarding crewed missions are made with careful consideration of all potential risks. While the change in plans may be disappointing for Wilmore and Williams, their extended stay on the ISS will provide valuable opportunities for research and experimentation in space.

As the space industry continues to evolve and expand, incidents like this serve as important reminders of the complexities and uncertainties inherent in space travel. NASA and its partners will continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and success of all future missions, as they push the boundaries of human exploration beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
